We decided to get up early again and drive straight to where we saw the wolf and cubs. No wolf sighting, but saw pronghorns, coyote and buffalo, then continued touring sights on the northern loop including walking and driving the northern and southern rims of “The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone” - Upper and Lower Falls, Lookout Point, Grand View, Artist Point, Inspiration Point (Uncle Tom’s Stairs was closed). Ended our day with dinner at Cowboy’s in Gardiner, MT.

We got up before dawn and drove into YNP and across the northern loop on out into Lamar Valley where we were 1st in line for a buffalo jam ( VIDEO LINK ). The video is from my dash camera through the windshield so it's poor quality, and the buffalo do not make their appearance until after about one minute. Here ( VIDEO LINK ) is a short video I took of the same buffalo crossing using my cell phone. Later, using the scope lens, we spotted a mother wolf with 2 pups. Unfortunately, the wolves were so far away we could not get them in a photo. We continued driving the northern loop stopping for various points of interest, Petrified Tree, Roaring Mountain, Sheepeater Cliff, among others. We arrived in Gardiner, MT, and headed up the mountain at about 8:30a to check out a 1st come 1st serve campground called Eagle Creek Campground in Gallatin National Forest, and we got a great site #9. If we had been just a little later we would not have gotten anything as it filled up shortly after. After a brief rest, we drove into Yellowstone to the Visitor Center, then took a short hike around the lower of Mammoth’s Hot Spring Terraces. Finished day #1 with dinner date in at The Yellowstone Pizza Co. in Gardiner, MT. Eagle Creek Campground - Gardiner, MT Gardiner, Montana is the gateway to the northern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Our campsite is only about 2 miles from the North Entrance to YNP. After setting up camp, we entered YNP and walked around Mammoth Springs area.

We started the day with breakfast at Tillamook Creamery in Tillamook, Oregon. After breakfast we hiked 5 miles round trip at Cape Lookout, OR. Afterward, we drove to Pacific City and had lunch at The Oar House. Driving back we made a quick impromptu stop at McPhillips Beach. While walking on the beach we met a lady who informed us of whales spouting on the horizon. We saw spouting and even saw a tail surfacing in distance. I was able to capture a spouting in the photo shown below. The 2nd photo is actually the same photo enlarged. Ended our day by going back to Tillamook Creamery for ice cream. The spout is difficult to see in the top photo. In the enlarged photo below, the spout can be seen in the center.

Stopped briefly at a marker for the Bonneville Salt Flats along the highway in Utah.

Water Canyon Campground is a great area of BLM land near Winnemucca, Nevada. We only stayed one night, but will definitely return. Click the following link for VIDEO of our initial approach pulling the Airstream into the campground.

We arrived to the Airstream factory and parked at site A7 in the campground terraport. We are here to have the converter replaced and the furnace serviced. While here, we took a tour of the factory.
