Yellowstone National Park - Day 1

We arrived in Gardiner, MT, and headed up the mountain at about 8:30a to check out a 1st come 1st serve campground called Eagle Creek Campground in Gallatin National Forest, and we got a great site #9. If we had been just a little later we would not have gotten anything as it filled up shortly after. After a brief rest, we drove into Yellowstone to the Visitor Center, then took a short hike around the lower of Mammoth’s Hot Spring Terraces. Finished day #1 with dinner date in at The Yellowstone Pizza Co. in Gardiner, MT.

Eagle Creek Campground - Gardiner, MT

Gardiner, Montana is the gateway to the northern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Our campsite is only about 2 miles from the North Entrance to YNP. After setting up camp, we entered YNP and walked around Mammoth Springs area.

El Malpais National Monument - Joe Skeen Campground

Great dry camping site in western New Mexico. After World War II, the Bureau of Land Management became the administrator of the area. In 1987, President Ronald Reagan designated El Maloais a unit of the National Park Service. It is jointly managed with the nearby El Morro National Monument.

Wichita Falls - Texas

We enjoyed a brief stay at the city campground in Wichita Falls, Texas. Site #20. Electrical hookups, water, and a dump station are available for a reasonable price. We walked to Jason's Deli for dinner. The river that runs next to the park was extremely high. Check out THIS LINK FOR VIDEO Sentimental note; we pedaled through Wichita Falls back in 1985 on our cross country bicycle trip to San Diego, CA, from Tybee Island, GA. Pretty much had the park to ourselves

Thought I'd share it again... Principal’s Letter - November 2007 As I sit here contemplating the topic for this month’s edition of the Dodgen Dateline the first thing that comes to mind is to take inventory of the things for which I am thankful.  It is, after all, that time of year.  First, I am thankful that my list includes items such as a wonderful family, adequate food and shelter, and employment at the best middle school in the United States.  Of course I could go on for many more pages.  I am blessed indeed.  How about instead, I share some things from my list that I am sure you would not have guessed?  The baseball that has scrawled on it the words “I love you very much,” comes to mind.  The words were writ...
